Question: I spend most of my free time on anime,internet,books,and video games.I am very shy also.I recently read about how hikikomoris love these things too and it made me worried:am I one too? P.S. I do leave the house at least once every other day Am I just a devoted geek or a mentally ill and withdrawn hikikomori?

I have never heard the term hikikimori. I am assuming that it is something like 'otaku'.
You are what you are. You do whatever you like to do. Don't let anyone decide for you what you should and shouldn't do. Just do whatever it is you like to do...as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.
I also like video games, computers, and anime...and have an extremely large collection of them. However, i'm also in a committed relationship, a full time student, and have a job. I find less and less time for my hobbies with each passing day, but I make sure that I do give myself some time to enjoy the things I like to do.
As long as you have moderation and variety in your life your fine. And of course, as long as you are happy.

Not necessarily. I can't offer exact answer since I don't know you that well, but it is clear that you do need some social life. As a fan and devoted anime fan, I understand your addiction... but there's a life more than just anime and games. (Although that's enough to keep your life interesting) Try to start get active in the field that you are passionate about. If all else fails, get involve with anime related stuff with real people. It will take time, as I have... but if you are willing to live your life to the fullest... you will be fine.

you dont have to worry, its your own personality and not every geeks are the same. at least your not some pompous jerks who roam the streets w/ an empty brain and a fat check at hand.
