My medicine isn't working?!

Question: i have add, and i've tried both adderall and concerta

neither have worked for me
it's been stressing me out that nothing is working, and i'm just feeling so stuck right now
especially with homework, it really sucks because i feel like i want to do it, like i can do it, and it would be SOO easy to do it, but i just can't start it

and i don't know what to do because no medicine is working it seems, and i'm getting discouragged (sp?)

So please help! What should I do? Does this mean that I was diagnosed wrong? What should I try instead, any other type that works well for people?? Thank you

It depends on how long you have been taking the medicine. The kind of medicine you describe takes about two months to start to work although some people start to see results after a month or six weeks.

After a couple of weeks after two months have passed return to your Physician and tell him or her it's not working. There are many types of medicine that can be tried and sometimes it takes two or three tries to get to find the one that works for you.

But don't give up, either this one will start working or you will find another with the help of your Physician that does work,

Two cautions: 1) If the condition starts to feel a lot worse, go and see your Physician immediately. 2) If you start to feel bad side-effects, you should not wait but go and see your Physician immediately.

Yes, you could have been diagnosed wrong or you might need a new medicine. Try really hard to apply yourself and you will get your homework done. Mind over matter.

Well you said it, you can do it and it would be SO easy to do it, but you just don't want to start. That sounds a lot like me when I was in school. Maby you need to see a different Dr. get off the meds and enjoy life. But that is just my opinion. I wouldn't take anything you read here to serious. Good luck and have fun

Make a start after reading this. Often that provides the impetus to do more, later. An old proverb is: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Take that first step. Many procrastinators have the tendency to see the task in its totality, which can be quite daunting. Work out how it is best accomplished in manageable stages, and give yourself a small reward, after each one, with the promise of a bigger one, at the end. Make a task schedule, and mark off each one as it is completed. Alarms, memos, and reminders help some people. Have breaks between stages. For larger projects, use a diary, or the calendars at Yahoo, Myspace, etc. Check out: http://www.scotthyoung.com/blog/2007/05/... & http://www.mercola.com (SEARCHBAR: PROCRASTINATION) & http://www.getorganisednow.com & http://www.flylady.com & http://www.hypnosisnetwork.com/hypnosis/... ~~~ ADD is addressed in the blog of shaneris at www.myspace.com Take 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily, (some people take 10: there is no risk with this) and if you don't get adequate exposure to sunlight in the winter months, replace 2 of them with 2 cod liver oil supplements, or preferably a teaspoon of cod liver oil. I have mine on buttered toast, to ensure its utilisation, and cover with fish paste, and pepper, to mask the strong taste.

For a few persons with ADHD - ADD, coffee - caffeine compounds, for them, work better than Ritalin, Dexedrine, and Adderall to temporarily reduce some ADHD symptoms and temporarily pay attention easier.

Coffee- caffeine compounds work a little for some (not everyone). Good luck.
