There might really be a ghost in her room, that would not explain the people she hears talking in the roof though. Since she is 17 she might be developing some sort of illness, or it could be a side effect of the anti-anxiety medication she is on, she should discuss this symptoms with the doctor that prescribed the anti-anxiety medication.

Adolescence is the most common time in life to develop this disorder. So, yes, schizophrenia is certainly a reasonable possibility. If she is actually experiencing visual and auditory hallucinations (and truly believes she is being persecuted in some way by imaginary beings/ghosts) - schizophrenia is the most likely explanation.

However, it is important to rule out other possibilities, as well, before you become overly concerned. One that comes to mind, is that she could be making this up, because she enjoys the attention she gets from you when she mentions it. Another possibility is that someone in her household (vindictive sibling, perhaps) is playing a trick on her.

id say shes probably attention seeking. or maybe there is a ghost in her room, you never know

you said she was taking medicine. maybe she should go to a doctor to see the side effects of this medicine.

Yea, right age for mental illness to show up. She should go to head doctor.

I would not say she is schizophrenic. This 'ghost awareness' is typical for young women, and sometimes even older ones. Maybe she is convinced that she sees ghosts?

I don't necessarily believe in ghosts. I'm a scientist and I'm supposed to rely on facts. The thing is, I've witnessed many things in my lifetime that could not be explained with scientific facts.

I have two suggestions that might help: Try to reason with her. Ask her if these ghosts have ever done anything truly harmful to her. Turning off alarm clocks and making loud footsteps is hardly something that will do long term harm to her. And is that really the best that these ghosts can do?

The next suggestion: Try to find out if any person in her family has a reason to be playing pranks on her. All of these things you have mentioned have previously been done as pranks to make another person look crazy or irrational.

your friend is loonytoons. I suggest you play tricks on her for you own amusement. maybe you can pretend you see the ghost too and see what happens. be really convincing!

She might be wrong or right, we won't know cause not everyone can see ghosts. Perhaps you should accompany her to a therapist. If not, ask her to spend the night with you or you spend the night with her.

If it is indeed spiritual disturbance you should really do something about it. I've personally came across a situation where the ghost push me onto the bed hard when I just waking up, as if it doesn't want me to get up. It is not like human hands, it was all over my body, a soft, yet powerful force such as a forcefield. In this situation ask your friend to calm down and pray. Also talk to "them" and ask them to leave nicely. Regret for all the things that you have done in the past life and pray for "them". Do good deeds sincerely. This are all good practice to remove spiritual disturbances but we need to know the exact situation to be certain of how to solve the problem, whether the ghost comes for revenge or just pass by the house and stays there.

There is a Chinese millionaire who gave up all his property, wife and child to become a monk. It is because when he was small, he killed a snake by hitting it with a stick. Not long after that, his brother punch him hard in the chest just because he wanted his orange. Since then his chest hurt and no medication can ease or heal it. It has been almost 30 years that he love with the pain when he got interested in Buddhist books. One day when he went into a bookstore the bookstore owner suddenly ask him, do you experience chest pain? He was surprised that the man know of his pain. The man actually has spiritual eyes and he saw that the snake was biting on his chest. Then regrets and vows that he will never kill a snake again, kneel down and knocks his head on the ground three times, the pain just disappeared and he is well since then. Then he never killed a thing again and became a monk and went all over the globe to educate people to be merciful.

We cannot understand how this world works but what we can do is follow the right path and do the best we can. Better safe than sorry.
