Carbon monoxide suicide?!

Question: If you put a hose in the exhaust pipe and put the hose through your window and rolled it up and let the car run, would it kill you, and how long would it take? Thanks

Death of any sort can be very unpleasant and I wouldn't recommend it as an option to anyone. Whatever the problems they can be solved. The problem with carbon monoxide poisoning is that it is not reversible. Even if someone is hauled from a car they usually die. But also modern cars are unsuitable for the purpose.
Just after I left school someone from my school, who had also left, killed themselves this way. It was many years ago. I didn't know him well at all but I was strangely in the priviledged position of knowing why he did it. I know that sounds odd, but it is true. I will never never forget how I felt. I was devastated that I didn't know what he was going through and that I didn't have the opportunity to help.......no one did. And because of that his family really really suffered. And some other people who had been just doing their job, I know, will never have got over it either. It was such a sad time for everyone. His mother said that people did not know how to adequately express their sorrow for her enormous loss and so they crossed the street so that they did not have to speak to her.
For myself, however bad life gets, I don't want them to say that I 'took my own life when the balance of my mind was disturbed'. That makes me sound like a loony, there's no way I want to be remembered that way! I would always seek help. I don't want other people that I love to suffer because of me. And nothing bad I have done could be as bad as having to do that and leaving them with the guilt and the 'what if's.
I love them too much to do that to them.

And when I look at the flowers and my pets, the world is a wonderful place!

I hope this helps.

why? you aren't thinking of doing it are u? x

like an hour probably, you wont really notice youll slowly become more and more tired then just sorta slip into death

No! don't do it...im sorry but if you are planning to don't!

I would not recommend doing it. But it really depends on how much CO your car produces, how big your car is, and how big your lungs are. A lot of air must be displaced for that to happen, so the smaller all three, the quicker.

Why the question. Of course you WILL die, eventually... think of all the people left behind to suffer. Whoever is thinking about this... don't!!! There are some of us who care!

Don't do it. Gasoline is way too expensive.
It's cheaper to live.

Yes but think about all the people who will suffer from your death. Its not the solution, trust me.

This is not going to be easy for me but do not do this to yourself and your family! My brother killed himself and he had no idea the amount of harm that he did to his family. It has been more then 20 years and we all still feel the effects! The problems that you are having right now are fixable and temporary! If you kill yourself that is the final solution for you but the pain and anguish that you put on the friends and your family is more then I am able to describe with words. Please reconsider what this deed would do to others.

I really hope you're not planning on doing this.
If you're feeling down, you can email me and talk.

xx

Newer cars have catalytic converters, which eliminate most carbon monoxide but, even cars with catalytic converters can produce substantial carbon monoxide if the car is in a enclosed space like a garage or something. I think it all depends on the build of the person as to how long it would take to finally kill you but you'd be in a coma before you die i believe

Maybe it will and maybe it won't. If you don't die, you will end up severely brain damaged and totally dependent on others for your care. I know someone who lived through it. It's not pretty, and I don't recommend it.
