Has anyone actually beat depression without pills? How?!

Question: Do you know anyone or did you beat it yourself?

Answers: Do you know anyone or did you beat it yourself?

Yes, I managed without pills, but must admit that I did a bit of self medication with alcohol after my son died. It is not easy rising through a deep emotional situation and there are no quick fixes. It takes a lot of work from your side, but with the help of good friends and a positive attitude it is totally do-able. Good luck and God bless.

Find out the cause and do something about it. Simple as that!

No doubt something is bad in your life, you need to take steps to change it.

Yes.... And this is a serious answer..... I divorsed my ex wife....

Yes, I had CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) - it saved my life. Far more effective than sitting back, taking pills and expecting them to solve things for you. The drug companies have the whole world fooled into thinking only pills can solve depression. As is now beginning to emerge, many of these pills actually make it worse and most of them do absolutely nothing other than make the pharmaceutical companies rich.

Yes i have. We all go through times that we get depressed and we then either fight back or let it take over your life. You have to figure out what you are depressed about. at that point you can either accept it or go about changing it. If you just hang onto it you will never be better. I had to accept that my family brothers and sister would never really know me or understand me. we can not ever be close again because when I try they hurt me. and it has happened over and over. so I took myself out of that relationship and have been happy for years. you can only change yourself not anyone else. Good luck.

I guess it depends on the cause of it. If it is from a chemical imbalance then I would imagine it would be hard (not impossible) to self regulate. If it is from being in a place in life that is mentally unhealthy and depressing then this depression can possibly be removed by removing oneself from that situation. I deal with it a lot.

yes i did it . first of all i was not talking to anyone and just angry with others all the time . but then i went out alone and had some peace of mind and tried to relax and sort out my problem and thought that y iam fighting with those who did not do any thing wrong to me and than i tried to pass my time by not thinking about that which hurt me but about other things and than finally i was out of depression.

Pills very rarely work, as delivered in some recent news reports on a survey conducted on anti-depressants and anti-psychotics. They are simply psyhological. If you are given a pill and told it will make you feel better, the mind automatically adjusts to accept positive feelings and reject negative ones but it is all in the mind.

My mum suffers from depression and has done since her husband left her around twenty five years ago. The thing with depression is it can get better and worse but someone who suffers from the illness DEPRESSION (often confused with the temporary state of mind) will always have it. It depends on the variables in life whether it shows up or not. When good things happen in my mum's life, her depression subsides, but it always comes back when something goes wrong. It is a very unfortunate rut.

If you have depression, the best thing I can advise you to do is try and adopt a different state of mind. Do not think of yourself as a victim, but MAKE changes in your life. If you hate your job, apply for ones you only dream of, even if you think you're underqualified. As they say, shoot for the moon...

I have no idea what you're belief system is, but I think the Law of Attration is certainly powerful. If you concentrate on your life being sh*t, you'll just get more sh*t. If you look at the things in your life that you love, you will get more of the same. Google it if you're not familiar with it. Good luck!
