Being a loner?!

Question: i have a friend who is a male and he is 46 and he wants to shut hisself out from any contact with other people, including friends and family. He wants no one in his life. What would cause someone to be this way?

This is a typical behavior of someone suffering from severe depression. The person locks themselves away from the world to keep their lives as simple as possible. The big problem is this approach does a lot more harm then good.

sounds like he is suffering from major depression, you/or someone that cares about him has got to MAKE him get help.
