This is too thin a slice of your story to be able to answer well!

My suggestion would be to have a second opinion to confirm or change your diagnosis.

Having said that many of us are placed on one antidepressant after another. There can be a rational explanation for this, for example that a new class of drug will work differently (and hopefully more effectively) or that one simply isn't pulling its weight after a decent trial (of up to a year).

Finally, never, ever rely on the advice of other patients. Every one is different, further, people may prefer one drug to another because of the colour of the packaging, or because it worked for Aunty Glad.

Good luck with this, and keep persevering!

don't have any they course a lot of people to turn suicidal when they come off them

they dont cause a mood lift. they correct the imbalance that makes you down.

You need to be aware of a few things regarding antidepressants; recently, a study showed their ineffectiveness, next, because everyone's brain chemistry is different, effects are not the same and lastly antidepressants don't fix the problem.

If you are not suicidal or have a major mental health issue that requires specific medication, you should be in counseling finding out the root of your depression and working on that.

Pills don't solve problems, hard work in counseling does.

You should be in therapy in conjunction with the medication, and everyone reacts differently to each med. What worked for one person won't work for another. No one can tell you what will work best for you, so you'll just have to work with your doctor and keep trying.

the best that has ever worked for me and I have been onm ever single anti depressant...Cymbalta...like a charm

the grew out of the ground ones

As aforementioned, Anti-depressants do not give yopu a high, they simply alter an imbalance in neural chemistry to change the down mood. But there are a variety of ones to consider, all come with incurrent risks. Therefore the best thing to do is go to your psychiatrist or clinical psychologist. They will be able to prescribe a new medication and dosage as each Anti-Depressant has different effects and is for different levels of anxiety or depression. Try to avoid Mono Amine Oxide Inhibitors (MAOI's) if possible as these are very dangerous. Trycyclic antidepressants or SSRI's might be worth considering.

ahem ahem why dont u try yoga or meditation for a mood lift??

Effexor seems to help. Whatever you do, do not stop taking your paroxetine all together, ask your Dr. to taper you off of it, please. You will really really regret it if you don't. As far as a good mood lift, working out. My main mood lift is the punching bag. It always makes me feel better, and the endorphins released during activity is a "feel good".
