Force psychiatric medication on voluntary minor? (2-3questions really)?!

Question: Force psychiatric medication on voluntary minor!? (2-3questions really)!?
I'm considering inpatient treatment as a sort of quarantine from others, i'm a little bit homicidal/suicidal!.!.!.but not at the moment, its planning i'm working on at the moment!. I feel that the waiting up to the day is horrible!.!.my question is:

if i go inpatient (i'm in Nevada) as an adolescent can they force medication on me!?!? Either by parent/legal guardian order or doctors if i'm voluntary!?

Also!.!.!.

If I refuse medication when i'm discharged, would that be grounds for my parents to put me back into inpatient!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Realistically, yes, they can force medication on you though technically legally they shouldnt be able to if you are voluntary!. I dont know how it works in Nevada, however, this is how i found it to work otherwise!.!.!.

you are there voluntarily, they tell you they want to give you medication, you do not want to take the medication, so they "section you" ie keep you there by law to force the medication they wanted to give you in the first place as you are not compliant!.!.!. so basically, they ask you sweetly to take the meds and if *they really want you to take the medication* and you dont want to, they make you take it by envoking the law!.

And your parents can do whatever they want with you as for putting you back in hospital!. sorry!.

Er, i just reread that again, are you saying that you are planning a homocide now!?!? or your suicide!.!.!? Er, then you should be in hospital!.!.!. have you been on medication before!? withdrawals can make people homocidal and suicidal so maybe you want to check on going back on any meds you had before!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you are deemed competent to be able to decide on what course of action to take by the hospital then they should let you decide whether you want to be given any medication!. They should only force medication on you if you become psychotic or if they feel it is genuinely in your best interests, but think carefully about if going into hospital is the right thing for YOU, not other people!. I think you have been very honest asking such a question and I honestly hope it all works out for you and you get the support that you need!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The laws vary from state to state!. Alaska just forced a schizophrenic to be hospitalized and take Zyprexa even though he has never been a threat to himself or others!. His name is William Bigley in case you want to look up what happened to him!. The laws are changing in every state all the time based on different cases being decided!.

If you aren't homicidal or suicidal you aren't going to the hospital in most states!. Not even voluntailry because there just aren't enough beds in most states!. So unless you tell them you are homicidal or suicidal most likely you aren't going to the hospital for a "break"!. As a "quarantine", does that mean you want to get away from your life for a little while!? Because depending on whether you are able to go to a private hospital or don't have insurance and will end up in a state hospital, well, you haven't been to one, but the other patients are very sick there and you probably won't like it much!. You would probably end up going from the frying pan into the fire!. Hospitalization is a last resort kind of thing, not a break from your life!.

If you refuse medication as an outpatient, you can get kicked out of the program getting you your meds for being non-compliant!. But you don't mention whether you have some kind of insurance!. It looks like Nevada has a program for forced meds in your home though!. Since you're a minor also, they might just try forced meds without putting you in the hospital!.

Now why don't you want to take your meds!? Afraid of side effects!? Anti-psychotics and other drugs don't work the same in children and adults!. Bottom line is you don't know how any particular drug is going to help you or hurt you until you take it for a while because they work differently on evey patient who takes them!. But they might find one that can help you with these homicidal/suicidal feelings you are having!.

I'd try a few different drugs before I went near any hospital if I were you!. You won't like it in there!. So you have to choose!. Risk side effects and continue having these thoughts or try some meds until you find one that helps you!.

The United States Supreme Court is currently considering whether forced medication is permissible so that people are fit to stand trial!. The decision will probably be handed down this summer and it could possibly affect your situation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
