Question: What is the best way to handle a possible physicial attack from an Alzheimer patient!?
The impulsive behavior of Alzheimer's Disease is rather scarry!.!.I find I must think at all times of my own safety, but I'm in charge of her safety, too!.!.What a PICKLE!!!!.!.She tried to choke me once and recently hit her Granddaughter, she didn't know who she was, and didn't care!.!.punched her in the stomach!.!.!.She has increased agitation, but rapidly calms!.!.!.suggestions!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Walk far enough away that she can't reach you , but where she is still in your sight!. She will forget shortly that she was mad and she will calm down!.No she doesn't know who her granddaughter is!.!.she would be sick if she knew what she was doing, this disease is so terrible!. It wreaks havoc on everyone's life, but mostly hers!.She doesn't know why she's mad and she can't understand what's happening to her!. Start talking to her before you get too close!.!.sometimes when you walk up and start touching them, it startles them and they react!. Give her something to hold onto so that her hands are occupied!. A teddy bear or something soft , so that if she decides to whack you with it it won't hurt!. Speak slowly and reasurringly!.!.make your requests short and simple and only make one request at a time!. Aromatherapy does work!.!.I've used it for years now!.!.get some of that Lavender sleep spray and spritz her blankets and pillows!. I know this is truly difficult!.!.I have been slapped, kicked , bitten!.!.but they truly can not help it!. Hope this helpsWww@Answer-Health@Com
