Answers:
Outpatient care is basically seeing a Psychiatrist and a Therapist outside of being in the hospital!. Some are located in clinics some are located in their own offices!. I see a Pdoc and a T at a Outpatient facility that is run by the hospital where I was hospitalized!. The Pdoc sees me for about 15 min and helps me with my meds and the Therapist listens about my boring life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
You basically go in for treatment during daytime hours only - as opposed to being "inpatient" which means you'll have to stay there the whole time!.
Outpatient therapy or care is usually reserved for persons not considered a danger to themselves or others, but still in need of care!. Outpatient care differs from traditional "counseling" in that you are subject to more stringent rules while there - are not able to leave until the day is over, and have many activities set up during the day for you to participate in (set up by your therapist and the facility you're in)!.
You'll probably go in at about 8 in the am and leave around 5 or so in the evening!.
Take care!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Outpatient care is when someone goes for therapy or sees a psychiatrist on an out of the hospital type basis!. The person may go to a mental health clinic or an outpatient department of psychiatry at a hospital!. Therapy appointments can be once a week!. Psychiatrist appointments depend on how well the person is doing while taking medication!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I was in a psychiatric hospital for 6 mos!. I've been an outpatient at that same hospital for the past 21 years!. Initially I went back for therapy 3x a week!. As the years rolled by and I began to understand and control my condition, I needed less out-patient care!. Today I go once a month for therapy and medication!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
