First of all if your afraid that she will get partial placement during a divorce, then that probably isn't the way to go!. Unless you can prove abuse a judge is going to allow visits with mom!. I would definatly have the kids seeing the school counselor or be in regular therapy so they learn good coping skills!.
It sounds like your wife has an addictive personality along with her other diagnosis!. (Just for the record it's post Traumatic stress disorder) I wouldn't be too concerned about the number of medications that she has to take!. But I would be concerned if she is self medicating!. ( drinking, smoking pot, taking extra doses to take the edge off) That would mean that she needs to go back into rehab!. Because she's still having a hard time coping with every day life I would guess that she isn't taking her meds a prescribed!. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink!.

It's hard when your on that much medication to be alert in the morning!. I'm sure if you read the lables of her medication it will say that it causes drowsiness!. I reciently lost my job because I wasn't able to get there on time!. I'm bi-polar, ADHD,and have OCD!.
At one time I was on 5 medications!. I too have had manic episodes where I would cheat on my husband (of 14 years)!.
So, after all that I'm not sure if I actually answered your question!. But I just wanted you to know that you're not alone!. You have 2 great kids that think the world of you and don't want to see you get hurt!.
Create a support system for yourself!. I would be glad to talk with you more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do you love your wife!? I would think about your children!. What is the best for them!. Go to counciling if you want to stick it out!. If not talk to a lawyer about trying to get custody of the kids full time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bipolar disorder is a chemical unbalance in the brain, specifically dealing with the neurotransmitters and their 'firing appropriately'!. Thus, the reason there is most often a need for medications as these can assist the brain in producing/correcting the brain chemistry!. It deals with mood (affective) disorders and the reason for it being called bipolar is that it literally means a person experiences a host of moods on a broad spectrum!. This spectrum ranges from very high, unusually euthymic moods (mania) to deep depressive states!. Each individual's prognosis is unique!. Thus, it is literally impossible to state absolutely that a person will or will not "get better"!.

Also remember, the so-called 'well individuals' all have their quirks, too, many of them also needing to see psychiatrists, but resisting doing so as 'labeling' is not especially a desired situation!.

If you love your wife, it is probably wise for you to attend some of her counseling sessions, doctor appointments and take the initiative, just as you're doing, to learn more about this illness!. It is real and can be quite distressing for both the client and those with the client is involved!. Comprehension and understanding is key, for all involved!.

The only thing absolute and concrete about your question, "will she ever get better!?", is that it is not a concrete, absolute and predictable illness!. However, neither is anyone's life, yes!?

Congrats on taking the initiative to gain information!
Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

there isn't a set time for recovery for bipolar!.

if she can't cope with day to day life then clearly she needs more help - and not from you!. from the sounds of it, you've done all you can and it's now something for her psychiatrists to deal with!. take her to a shrink and let them deal with it, that's what they are paid to do!.

i also don't mean to sound harsh, but it's rubbish if she's using her bipolar as an excuse to act like that!. she needs to take responsibility for her actions and get herself sorted out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Gosh, sorry that you are going through this!. Her manic phase may make her sleep around like that!. Has she tried Lithium to no avail!? Usually bipolar people need to take their meds compliantly for at least 2-4 weeks for them to even start to work and reduce the symptoms!. She has many issues and if you want to stick it out with her, then try, although I don't know if she will get better!. She may need a change of meds or should be getting her Lithium blood levels checked for an increased dosage if it is not working!.
Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
