Depression medication..please someone, have you found one that actually makes yo!

Question: Depression medication!.!.please someone, have you found one that actually makes you feel happy!?
My husband has extreme depression and all the meds he has ever been on are mood stabilizers!. The problem though is that he feels no joy, no get up and go, pointless and basically the only real way to describe it is numb!. He see his Doctor this week and I have been doing research trying desperately to find medication that actually elevates a person's mood!. I just want to find some of these types so that he can discuss it with his Doctor!. You know, somewhere to start!.
Please, I beg for your help!
Thank you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi there

i am sorry that your husband and yourself are going through such a rough time!. I don't think any medication or anti-depressant makes you happy, they are just supposed to help you return to the way you were before the depression kicked in!.!.!.well thats what i have been told!. I am on my 4th antidepressant in just over a year and i haven't found anything that has worked yet, however that's just my point of view, some people find one that does help them return to "normal"!.
The most common Anti-depressants belong to the SSRI group (seritonin reuptake inhibitors) such as prozac, sertraline or lustral!.
Maybe ask the doctor why your husband has only been on mood stabilzers and why anti-depressants haven't been tried!.

best of luck

Why not ask the doctor about other medication!?
Why don't you try to expose him to activities he's used to enjoy!?
Also I hope you're getting some outside support for you( counseling) because taking care of a not well person is frustrating and we may end up making mistakes, Since you're the caregiver it's responsible and wise to keep perspective in the order of doing better job!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Recovery from depression takes a while!. There are no quick fixes!. The mood stabilizers are the beginning of recovery and you as the spouse should be supportive of what the doctor is doing!.

The reactions of the people living with the patient are sometimes part of the problem!. Just remember that pills for depression aren't like aspirin!. They don't just make the problem go away!. It takes about two weeks for these drugs to kick in and then as long as 6 months before you will start to see important changes!.

Be patient and loving!. That's what your husband needs even more than new drugs!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Cypralex, it's ok, but works after about 2-3 months!.!.!.!. and it has a lot of side effects!. also Koaxil is nice but a lighter one!. you know, all antidepressant things are very specific and affect you differently!. you need to find a very good specialist to get the exact one you need, not all doctors are goodWww@Answer-Health@Com

That is why America is full of Drug Addicts!.!.!.can't find a Doc to help us!. Our docs treat our symptoms!.!.!.not the causes!. Anti-depressants only work if you have a chemical deficeincy in your brain!. We are a sad and anxious nation!.!.!.!.!.feeding our money into the docs and pharms!.!.!.with n o avail!.
They don't want us to get better!.!.too much money in our illness!.
We need to back to the old ways!.!.raising our kids, etc!.!.!.!.everyone is lost!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was on Paxil CR for a while and that worked wonderfully for me!. Keep in mind that what might work for one person might not work as well for another!. Sometimes it just takes some trial and error until you find one that works well for him!. Best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wellbutrin!. Allthough it can throw someone who's bipolar into mania/hypomania, hell it did for me, but at least I felt "alive" again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
