Answers:
PTSD is hidden away because it shows that war is not all about heroics and glory!. It is a graphic example of the toll combat takes on the human being as a whole!. Those who come out with severe physical problems, such as lost limbs get treated slightly better because physical illness is harder to ignore than mental illness!. The military would like to believe that people with PTSD are just weak and need tough love, not legitimate psychiatric care!.

I just read an article recently about how soldiers with PTSD stationed at a base in Georgia were housed together about 100 yards from the firing ranges on base, so that it caused many to have horrible flashbacks and nightmares and be edgy all the time!.

I also think the military doesn't want to spend the money to really help these people!. They haven't done well with that for veterans on any front!. They are offering fewer and fewer benefits and compensations!. People who are wounded in battle have to PAY to fly themselves home sometimes!.

It is just appalling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are actually more and more programs for the men and women returning home from war!.
While in nursing school I did my psychiatric rotation at the VA hospital in my town and I was impressed with the level of care given to the vets and the amount of programs inpatient and outpatient available!.
Unfortunately it's not something the government wants to openly admit to!.
Although it is getting better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Once upon a time, the VA was involved in a lot, a very lot, of research!. Oh wait, that was in between wars during a Demorcratic administration!.

It costs money, a lot of money these days!. That is my answer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Because they are worthless!. "Thanks for serving our country f*ck off!." I hate taking patients to those places, they are treated so horribly!. It could be because so may of our soldiers have PTSD that they just don't want to deal with it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
