Problem relaxing?!


Question: Problem relaxing!?
I've got no clue on how to relax!. I've tried everything, from deep breathing to being alone!. I dont know how to stay relaxed, i'm always paranoid and tense!. Anyone have suggestions to my problem!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its tough!.!.I know!.
I had to go to my doc, and get on anxiety meds, i couldnt relax at all, to the point it was raising my blood pressure!.

Anxiety and Panic Disorder, are an illness, nothing to be ashamed of, just means some people keep things bottled up more inside, and cant release stress like other people!.!.!.
I think you should see a doctor!.!.!.

In the meantime!.!.one thing I did!.!.!.i got rid of my big overhead light in the living room!.!.i dont use the light on the ceiling!.!.!.i keep it turned off, and just use the ceiling fan!.!.!.I have 3 lamps in my living room, and at night, I just turn the lamps on, and sit back and watch tv, or play on the computer!.!.!.a dimmed room, kinda creates a calm atmosphere!. Its very relaxing!. My doc suggested this!.!.its just a relaxing feeling before going to bed, kinda calms me!.!.so I sleep better!.
I light candles!.!.!.not alot!.!.!.just 2 or 3!.!.!.
I have had to learn how to let stress go!.!.just let it go!.!.
We cant change things that have happened, or bad things we have done, we can just learn from them!.!.and use them as a lesson!.
Dont be paranoid!.!.esp if you havent done anything!.!.!.!.just relax!.!.
And the tense, is probably due to stress and the stress build up!.!.!.!.

First and foremost, you MUST talk about your problems!. Otherwise they stay inside you and become bigger and bigger, and your thoughts get out of hand!.

When I was stressed a few years ago, I bought some "Relaxant" CDs!. You can buy CDs with the sound of the sea, a waterfall, bird-song etc!. Play them in a room that is otherwise silent, and with nobody in the room but yourself, sit in a comfortable chair or lie on the bed, and close your eyes!. They really do work!.

Deep breathing does help too, so don't give up on it!. Also, you don't say whether you live in a big city, in the country, or by the sea!. If you live in the country or by the sea, walking is a great way to relax, or if you live in a city, there is probably a park nearby!. Good luck!.

If you've tried everything you can think of and none of it's working perhaps you could see a doctor about some anxiety medication!. Just a little something that can take the edge off without over medicating you!. I don't really have any other suggestions, because nothing else seemed to work for me either!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes i had the same problem!. I be often you are thinking about stuff that has happened in your life while you are watching t!.v!. walking somewhere etc!. Well just clear your mind when that happens and kept trying!. Also i bet when your are trying to get to sleep you have problems with that!. Well when are on your bed just concentrate on the black that you are seeing!. When your able to sleep properly you will see that all your problems of being able to relax will go away!. The only thing that helps me is to watch something funny on TV or put in a really silly movie!. My counselor has tried to teach me deep breathing and it helps sometimes but laughing is better for me!. Just plain silly or "slapstick" shows/movies work for me, like Airplane-Don't Call Me Shirley or the show Whose Line is it Anyway!. That is on cable if you check www!.tv!.guide!.com!. dude im telling you one good way to relax is listening to your iPod, sitting in a park-clearing your thoughts!. Talking to a close buddy!. Also watching comedy shows-youtube gabriel iglesias and you'll feel better!.laughter is the best medicineWww@Answer-Health@Com

Exercising is a great way to help you relax!. I have Anxiety and take long walks and it has helped me tremendously!. After my walks I am able to sit and relax without any nervous feelings!.

Go in a really quiet room!. Go on ebay!.com or a music store and buy "The Sounds of the Rainforest" CD!. Very relaxing!. You'll eventually go to sleep and wake up feeling relaxed! =)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Deep breathing won't help, but mindfulness breathing may, although progressive muscle relaxation (page i) is probably the best first choice, for a novice: neither will solitude help, as such, unless used effectively!.

Practice one of the relaxation methods in sections 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed, at http://www!.ezy-build!.net!.nz/~shaneris Try them all, but at least some hours apart, and use the one which works best!.


(The following is a variant of EMDR therapy, which has been used successfully for those people suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, insomnia, and anxiety: it is easily learned, quick to use, yet can be very effective!. It is easy to be dismissive of such a seemingly unusual technique, but give it a good tryout, for at least a few weeks, to see if it is effective in your case)!.

Prior to using either of the methods in the above paragraph, first sit comfortably, and take a deep breath!. Then, without moving your head, move your eyes from the left, to the right, and back again, taking around a second to do so (say: "a thousand and one": this takes approximately a second)!.

Repeat this procedure (without the words, although you can count, subvocally, if you like) 20 times: "A thousand and one; a thousand and two!.!.!. " and so on, to a thousand and twenty!. Then close your eyes and relax!. Become aware of any tension or discomfort you feel!.

Then open your eyes, and take another deep breath, and repeat step one, closing your eyes, and relaxing afterwards, in the same manner!. Then, repeat the procedure one last time!. Some people may find that this is all they need do!.

With experience, you may find that you can practise this in public, with your eyes closed, which greatly widens the window of opportunity for its use, and avoids attracting unwanted attention!. I have found that the 2 - 3 minutes spent using the EMDR markedly reduces distractions to the relaxation process, and is repaid many times over!.
