Borderline Personality disorder & being childlike?!
Question: Borderline Personality disorder & being childlike!?
Hi,
I myself have BPD and was recently reading a book which said that a lot of 'Borderlines' can be very childlike at times or switch from being very mature to then being childlike!.
I found this interesting as I am very much child like and always have been and I was wondering if anyone else who suffers with BPD would find themselves childlike or have a desire to be so!?
ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yup!. I have read that basically BPD people are stuck in the developmental age of 2-3 years old!. So, many of their reactions are that of a child!.
I act very much like a child, especially under stress, fear of abandonment, and when I get overwhelmed!. I act-out in therapy, like a child because I have a hard time putting words to my feelings!.
Now, I also generally like kids things as well, such as toys, TV shows, and going to the park on the swings!. I missed all this growing up and so now when I feel safe, I do this stuff!.
Supposedly it takes a lot of therapy to grow up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i read about that a while ago and i do show the symptoms for it but cant be bothered to go and get diagnosed (thats my childish side speaking) i am very childish but i'm mature in the way that i've had a lot of life experience for a 20 year old, probably too much experience which is why im like itWww@Answer-Health@Com
I work with people with BPD!. This isa very common symptom of the illness, in my experience it is often evident when they are seeking attention or when things are not going the way they want!.
It often makes the person whom they are doing this too feel that they should pay extra attention to the person!. In adults it is a form of manipulation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
