Do counsellors take notes while you talk or just listen?!

Question: Do counsellors take notes while you talk or just listen!?
Answers:
Out of all the professionals I have seen medically and mentally only my psychiatrist or his SHO's have taken short notes during the meetings!. People who have counselled me never have but for those who don't take notes whilst in the session they usually write up notes sometimes after the actual session!.
They often don't need to wrote down word for word but listen carefully to what you say and try to pick up anything important that you say which maybe a clue to why you feel the way you do and how to feel better!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

!.!.!.!.!.!.eg after a session a counsellor who didnt take notes my write down something like!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Annie seemed very depressed in todays meeting, stated she has not slept much the past few weeks and has not eaten which is concerning and she looks exhausted!. when asked about her home life Annie stated that her husband had been under a lot of stress with his job and has become hostile and angry!. She changed the subject quickly but I think this may have some link to annies current state etc etc

In doing this the counsellor is taking down key issues about the client without having to remember word for word!.

I think most mental health professionals try not to take notes during the session incase it makes the client feel like they are being marked or judged for what they say or incase they feel the therapist isnt listening to them fully!.

Most of the counselors take notes during the therapy as it is difficult rather impossible to remember everything important that you tell!. And it's not only the things that you tell, they take notes on progress and future course of counseling!. it helps to track the progress and in reviewing the goals!. And yes, it is important for them to take your permission to do so!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That's a question i often ask myself, my psychologist never takes any notes during our sessions but seems to have a photo graphic memory!.!.!.!.I have mentioned to her that it's pretty freaky how she remembers everything, and when she quotes me word for word!!!
She just laughs and says that because she is listening to what i am saying!.!.!.!.

credit to her i would have been bored by the end of the first month, little own a year later! lolWww@Answer-Health@Com

wen i still had my counselor she wrote everything me and my mum said down so try not to say anything you will regret later and in on of the rooms there are cameras and i think they play them back to find out stuff and if you have changed your story i hated canceling i stopped talking to her and she canceled me because iust wouldn't Communicate Www@Answer-Health@Com

good Q, some just listen, some take notes, draw diagrams and some even record yoice with your permission, and some write some parts of what they told you :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some counselors write as they talk others write after you leave some don't write at all!. If you are getting counseling through a state funded agency or paid for by insurance I can assure you there is a chart of some degree!.

Mine mostly just listens, but since they can't remember every single detail about everyone they see it's pretty normal for them to have to take a couple notes to make sure they know all the important stuff!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

They often write down keywords if its a big thing and then make a written record of the consultation once you leave!. Like a GP or other doctor does!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A lot of times they'll take some notes for records and stuff but mostly they listen!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
