Do i have OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder)?!

Question: Do i have OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder)!?
Alot of my friends and family have said that they think i have OCD!. But they think this because of my known obsession with germs!.

I looked at the symptoms and stories from OCD sufferers and i could really relate to it!. But no one knows that since i was little i have "had" to do tasks that would seem pointless to people to prevent death and stuff !.!. like since i was very young and it is still happening now that i cant let the light switch swing at all or something bad will happen to my mum!.
I know that none of what i think will happen is true, but i just cant help but to do it all anyway!. It is so annoying and stressful!.
It is constantly what i have to deal with things like, and i just cant take it!. People think im weird if they catch me having to do a list of things and holding onto the light switch to stop it from moving!.
I thought i was just crazy but it seems that alot of OCD sufferers have had just the same experiences!. It gets me really stressed of how much i am affected by constantly having to do things to make myself feel alright again!. It's like inner peer pressure!.

I dont want my family to know what i do things that seem silly to prevent death !.!. it might be quite upsetting for my mum especially!. I have never mentioned this to anyone

So have i got OCD!? Do i need to get help!? It is so hard to cope with, and it is really affecting me at college, i keep getting behind because the lecturer tells me to do one thing, but then i 'have' to do aload of other stuff, and obviously i cant really tell her all this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It sounds like it could possibly be OCD-related, but there are a lot of symptoms that need to be looked at, such as time spent performing compulsive rituals, how much the obsessions and compulsions impair your ability to live your daily life, what your limits are because of this, etc!.

Your first step should be to go to your family doctor!. Discuss with him/her what your concerns are!. Keeping a journal of what your obsessions are, and what compulsions you perform to neutralize them can be very helpful in diagnosis and treatment!. Your family doctor may very well refer you to a mental health professional to go see, and from there you can see about treatment options!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I too suffer from BAD OCD!. Your symptoms DEFINITELY hit close to home!. I would go to a psychologist/psychiatrist if I were you, because it seems as though you have OCD!. Don't worry, it is treatable, and most people can live very happy, and normal lives if they are diagnosed with this and treated!. Best of luck =]Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would say there is a good chance you have OCD!. Talk to your doctor about it!.

You might also try to eliminate one thing that you "have to" do, like the light switch maybe!. It will be hard, but try it small steps at a time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it's OCD!. It's irrational, you know it, you know it isn't normal, but can't stop it!. Therapy and medication help with this, so much!. You should see about it!. I've seen people who are so bad, like with the lock on the door, they have to keep locking and unlocking and counting and saying,"ABC,123,ABC,123"!. They unplug the iron and have to hold the plug on their tongue to make sure there is no more current going through it!. Totally irrational!. Yeah, you have OCD!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
