Serotonin syndrome comes from combining multiple serotonin affecting substances that outstrips the body's ability to regulate that chemical's activity!. I don't think there's any one drug that can induce it by itself!. I certainly can't think of one off hand!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Serotonin is the brain chemical that keeps our moods level!. Serotonin Syndrone is when you are taking antidepressants and take a wrong medication along with it!. Always talk to you pharmacists about over the counter and prescription meds you are taking!. Taking Paxil cr would not cause this syndrome!. Taking the wrong medications with an antidepressant can cause the serotonin levels to go up dangerously high!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
The probability is so low that it could usually be discounted from the paxil itself!. If there is a combination with the effect of some other drug that is more of a possibility!. The antidepressants known as the monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) have a very lasting effect (up to 4 weeks)!. Which if combined with another drug that raises serotonin (in central nervous system) can be more risky!. But the MAOIs are not used so much now!. Some herbs can also raise the CNS serotonin!. Some foods have some influence but that is not usually an issue!.

I would encourage you to look this up on Ask!.com or speak to your doctor!.If you are on a low dosage of Paxil it is very unlikely!. But it's good that you want to learn all you can!. I have been on Prozac for a long time and it has not been an issue to date!. God Bless ReggieWww@Answer-Health@Com
