Serious (although strange) question, am I a hypochondriac?!
Question: Serious (although strange) question, am I a hypochondriac!?
My mother's always calling me one, jokingly of course, but I did research and now I'm rather convinced!.
With me or anyone close to me, I'll look up symptoms online and instantly jump to the worst case scenario!. I had an ear infection due to swimmer's ear a few months ago and had looked up online that if left untreated it could spread to the brain, and I just started crying, shaking, and downright freaking out because I was determined it was going to spread there and I would die!.
With my sister tonight, my mom's convinced it's a UTI (and so are a majority of the people on the question I asked), but I jumped to appendicitis (although some of the symptoms are severly different) and again, had the same freak out moment!.
And this happens constantly!. When I had a yeast infection, I was scared out of my mind that it would definitely spread to my kidneys or something if my mom didn't take me to the doctor the next day!.

Answers:
Yes and no!.
Generally hypochondriacs, whether presented with a certain disease or not, manifest symptoms in themselves to fulfill some psychological need for others' care!.
However there is something called "intern's syndrome" which is considered a form of hypochondria!. Here people see a disease and believe they have it!. However it's not the same mental problem, and frankly a whole lot of people (especially in this age of information) have these same experiences!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
