Whys everything deemed as having depression or a mental illness?!
Question: Whys everything deemed as having depression or a mental illness?
Answers:
You know in a way I agree with you. People are to quick to label others as mentally ill or depressed. I am bi polar, I am on medication and doing very well. People are surprised to find out I struggle with depression, but now days it seems like they are over reacting and medicating anyone who says that they are sad. 100 years ago people had to physically work hard to meet their everyday needs. I think back then people were to busy to get depressed and the excercise helped ward off mental illness. Now a days things are a touch of a button or click away and its all about instant gratification. If you are very tired of living you may be bored, find something new to do and try to zest up your life. I am in a rut but in seven weeks am headed from USA to Jamaica with my husband. Take a trip, start a new hobby, try to volunteer, a lot of times if we help ourselves, and help others we will feel better then if we go to the Dr and get medications!
as others have stated on here, if you were not feeling depressed then you really would not be tired of living. Your life would have meaning, you would not feel tired of living and you would be looking forward to the future.
Giving people a label is not always helpful, but I would respectfully suggest that you do at least go and talk to someone about the way you feel. After all you haev nothing to lose by exploring why you feel like you do.
Depression can take many forms, but if you are young and healthy and mentally well then you should not be thinking of dying but of all the good things that life holds for you.
Good luck, I would be interested to know how you get on.
"...it doesn't mean they're depressed." You're correct. The only people who think every case of being down in the dumps is clinical depression don't know much about the condition. A professional wouldn't diagnose them as depressed if the cause of their mood was just the way life is treating them. A clinically depressed person will continue feeling the way they do even if things are going well.
Best guess i would think....Is because a NON-depressed person generally does make the statement I am tired of living. Most NON-depressed people have a good nack for finding things around them to make life worth-while. Oh and so you know depression is a mental state not just a feeling. So feeling like you don't want to live yes is a symptom but no not a mental state. Your veiw seems more of boredom than a lack of interest in living.
dunno
We have an over abundance of people on antidepressants in the world. So, I'm assuming that people just automatically thing you're depressed. There is more depression now a days. Not sure why, but this is a fact.

Well, most people also have other symptoms of depression, for some reason you are focused on the not wanting to live part.
