Can weed help with depression, concentration and stress problems?!

Question: Can weed help with depression, concentration and stress problems?
I never have smoked weed and am considering trying it to see if it helps with my depression, concentration and stress problems. I've heard it does help these things but it can be different for each person.

it depends on you as an individual honestly.

i habitually smoke weed and while depression isn't an issue i personally struggle with it has helped me at points where i have been depressed, it definitely helps stress, and for me it does help concentration (i can be extremely focused on the things i'm doing) i feel like i'm able to sort out my thoughts better, and figure things out. i have anxiety issues and panic attacks (which are separate from the weed) and i know people blame weed on making them paranoid, but i've honestly found that i'm more relaxed and even when i do have a panic attack (which i have without smoking) it's really not worse than it is when i'm sober. the only thing weed doesn't help is my OCD, it can intensify that (but so does drinking.)

so really only you can sort out what it does/doesn't help you with...but if you don't smoke it, it's a lot safer than anything a doctor is going to prescribe to you.

It never helped anyone I knew with depression, it probably can help with stress, in a similar way that alcohol can help, but since you can't drive under the influence, it is better to learn ways to deal with anxiety and stress. I can't see how it can possibly help you with concentration.

I would suggest getting a self help book on handling stress and depression, exercise, social support, light boxes in the winter and therapy are all good treatments.

it really depends on the person. It will make you feel better temporarily, and in that sense it is good relief for depression and stress, and I do know some people who claim they get better concentration while high, but I am not one of them- I can't concentrate on anything! The thing is that you can't be high forever, and when I come down I tend to feel kind of lazy and lethargic for a while. It's definitely worth a try though, because weed is awesome.

many say it does help, but i would argue the opposite. when you smoke pot, you will begin to question things that you normally dont think about. if you smoke alone and are not entertained with something to do and hanging out with friends it can begin to seem as if you are super lonely. it will feel like you have nothing to do and time will pass even slower. i would not recommend using any drug, aside from prescription medications, if you feel that you are depressed. weed does undoubtedly help with stress issues though, as it lets you forget your pressing duties and responsiblities by feeling almost lazy. it will not help with your concentration in any way. i would say go to a doctor and ask for aderall, as it will help with concentration for sure, and stress will be relieved cus you can focus better and enjoy getting work done while taking it.

ok weed can either help with depression or make it worse, personally i am much happier after a joint then before it so im guna say it helps, if you hav concentration problems its definitely not guna help lol i hav ADD n if anything it makes it worse while your high but idc cause im having alot of fun lol, and it helps me alot with stress, if im feeling overwhelmed or angry after some ud all my problemsgo away haha i just forget about them..... i relly recommend yu give it a shot

expierence

Depression > certainly not

Concentration > Hell no

Stress > yeah, but it doesn't solve your problems.

As unappealing as it may seem, exercise can genuinely help with all three. as can giving up food/drink with aspartame in them (e.g diet coke, sweetener etc) and giving up caffeine.

Hope this helps, I really wouldn't recommend weed as a problem-solver though :-/

You're correct. It is different for each person. Myself, I also have had the same problems as you do. I haven't smoked pot since I was in high school and it EXACERBATED my problems. I became paranoid like you wouldn't believe, more depressed and anxious to the point I would hide in a closet. If I were you, I would talk to your doc about a legal medication that could help you. I'm on medication for anxiety and it has worked wonders, whereas the pot made things so much worse....take care.

Weed has the potential to worsen those problems. That, and you CAN develop a psychological (but not physical, which is what people usually refer to when they say you can't) dependency on it.

(Heck you can probably develop a dependency on anything that you use to self-medicate with.)

If your having depression then its best to talk with someone and see a doctor. I wouldnt reccomend you have weed because it becomes a addiction and has ruined many people mentally and emotionally. So please avoid that and look for a good solution.

Personally, I think it depends on why you are smoking it.
For me, it makes me concentrate and want to get things done. I didn't use it for a high only. I know they say it's not addicting but it can get to you. And I felt like when I tried to quit, I got depressed. But I've seen people just smoking it because others do, and that's all they do. Sit around, smoke weed, and nothing ever gets accomplished.

depression-NO
Concentration-Worsen
Stress-Yeah...Then you want to be high all day every day frying your brain cause if you weren;'t high you'd have to deal with the real world.
