I know they would have to tell my parents but im at the point i just don't care anymore. Im 13 and ive attempted suicide once. No one knows but me, and i feel like giving up. Should i tell the counselor? and if so how? I need help.

A school counselor will have to tell your parents, but an outpatient counselor does not have to, due to confidentiality laws. If you prefer to tell your school counselor, you don't have to say anything, just walk in, ask to speak to him or her, and show them the cuts. If the cuts aren't on a body part that you should be showing, just say that you've been cutting and you need help. Close your eyes if you have to, just don't wait.

When I was 13, I cut too. I didn't feel like telling anyone and I thought what was the point? Well I'll tell u right now there is a purpose and whatever u are going through right now will not be permanent but these scars, both physically and mentally will be with u forever.. It's just a matter of how u want to deal with everything. Do u want to find the strength deep inside u to know u are better than what challenges are in your life to not cut anymore, or just keep cutting because it hides the real pain. Eventually, u will learn to deal without cutting and it's such a relieve and someday u will be able to help someone else out there because u remember how u felt just like me. I know u can do it. I found the strength. And so will you(:

Yes, definitely tell the counselor. He/she will have a lot of background in this matter and help you through it. We on yahoo answers, for the most part, have no idea what we are talking about and are mostly inexperienced 12-15 yr olds.

How? Um, I would go to him/her right away tomorrow, since you are thinking about it now, and have the motivation in you to let it out. I wouldn't wait. If you wait, you might not feel like it again. Know what I mean? I would tell him/her you have something SERIOUSLY concerning you and ask to talk in private. Then just spit the truth. Good luck, and it is amazing that you have someone to turn to (your counselor). I never felt like I had anyone to go to at your age, and I wish I had.

They won't tell your parents. They keep it confidential. There are suicide hotlines and other ways to help yourself, just remember that suicide and cutting is bad. Instead of cutting, you should listen to some music that cheers you up and get your creative side flowing to take cutting and other self-destructive behavior off of your mind. Do you have any close friends? If you do, then talk to them about it.

SUICIDE IS NOT THE ANSWER!

Yes you should tell your counselor immediately, you should just be straight forward. As well you need to tell them why you do are doing this to yourself. You need to get psychiatric help, seeing professional on this is your best option, your counselor can help you with that.

Been there

You can just come straight out and tell them, or you could write it down or just show them. Writing it down can be really helpful because you can work out exactly what you want to say beforehand.

Walk into your counselors room, showing him/her.
Don't redo suicide. Your life WILL get better, you just have to make it happen.

i sayy make it simplee... like say you have to talk then talk about ur life them start lookn at ur cuts lik touching them and if she is concerned she sould sayy somethinnn
