Post traumatic stress disorder?!
Question: Post traumatic stress disorder?
I asked this before but I only got one answer.
Answers:
The person above me is actually quite misleading. Yes you can be traumatized but you can actually be turned on by what hurt you once you got past that initial shock. It's a coping mechanism. Your body is turning that pain ito pleasure. It's like how anorexics originally hate themselves but it turns into a rush of endorphins when they starve themselves. They are proving that they are stronger than what they are afraid of.
I don't know about that, Norah. I am a psych student as well and people can have all kinds of weird reactions to traumatic events. People's personalities split, they have flashbacks, unreasonable fears, and sexual changes. Maybe the only way your body knows how to react to a traumatic event is sexually.
I am also a massage therapist and I can say for sure that your body holds memories. Maybe what happened to you awakened something primal within you; a need that is not getting met or a fantasy that has not been realized.
I would have to know what happened before I could even begin to analyze your situation, but I'm not suggesting you post it unless you just want to.
No, that is not really part of PTSD. When you have that disorder, you don't "get turned on by what hurt" you. You just become traumatized, loss in sleep and appetite, having fears about what hurt you.
