How do I get rid of my depression?!
Question: How do I get rid of my depression?
Answers:
I'm in a similar boat. I'm nineteen, i have had suicidal thoughts since I was five or six, I was molested about that time (the thoughts of suicide seem to be older memories to me, but I don't know, maybe that played a part in this?) I kind of attempted suicide when I was twelve, my parents cannot start to comprehend what it is like to be so sad that you are nauseous and in pain, and it just. Wont. Stop. Religion hasn't helped me find peace, I have yet to try medication though.
That fear sucks doesn't it? I have this fear that one day I will slip up, one day I will decide to exit through a small cut or something...but I don't want to. But its there and never goes away.
The point of all that is, I know what its like.
Now, to get on to how I could help. The only thing that I have found to improve my depression is to help someone else. Whether it is something like stopping a friend from killing themselves, or something like helping my grandma move furniture. It helps.
Another alternative is delaying your thoughts. Just flood your mind with information, read a book, play video games, go work, just something to push it away and let you be neutral for a while until you can deal with it in a safe place.
Oh, and another helpful thing I have learned is to talk about it. Maybe mention it to people. Not go into detail but if it ever comes up just casually mention it. If someone you know ever comes to you for help, like you are coming to us, talk to them about how you deal with it. Not only could it be a lifeline for them, but it can help you learn to cope with it and come to terms with it. It is never going away but you can learn to handle it more each day.
AFTERTHOUGHT: Be cautious about medication as antidepressants will cause it to worsen if you come off of them and when you first begin taking them there is a chance of it worsening your depression. (My ADD medication has a chance of that as well. Any drug which alters the detection of neural transmitters can have a profound effect on your emotions and personality.)
The afterthought got inserted into the middle >_>
14+ years of depression and 1 suicide attempt.
Get the pill, it works.
Anti-depressants will get you back on track my friend, hang in there.
I want you to do me a favor please call one of these two numbers 1800-784-2433 or 1800-273-8255. As a Christian you should know that God would never give you more then you could handle. Go and talk to a chaplain tomorrow and explain your pain, they too can counsel on these things and sometimes just having someone there to listen helps. You also need to sit down with your whole family and make them understand and see that you need them now more then ever. You need their support their love and their understanding. I've been where you are now and my brothers were actually my saving grace in a similar scenario, and I now have a family of my own and thank God I didn't take my own life. We always think that this will go on forever but it won't "this too shall pass". I pray that you will call & that you can get the counseling and support you need. Your life is a gift and I'm sure he has a plan for you as well.
You really need some help my friend. I think you should talk to your doctor the next chance you get, or if you cant wait that long, go straight to your closest hospital and tell them that you are suicidal. It sounds scary, but most hospitals will take you in under supervision and give you a room and some pills to help you calm down.
Its a scary feeling being like this but you can get through it, obviously you dont want to die which is a good thing. If you really need to talk to someone right now, you can talk to me through skype or msn, if you like (i dont want to post mine on here though)
. I have saved a stranger from suicide before and would be happy to do it again.
Be strong, you can get through this
Firsts things first, don't ever consider suicide an option, what is it good for? Secondly just "praying" alone won't do anything unless you don't take action in your life, something special happens for a reason. Thirdly after you'll gotten rid of the idea of "suicide" its time to start with a base, get a job and during the weekends help the community, if you observe older generations, they don't "suicide" just because their time is over, no, even all ages go outside and help the community, build your foundation from there. Occupy your time, you'll start to feel better with all the things that eats up your time and don't think of this as recovery, think of this as a new beginning of your journey. Its never to late to stand up and go, hey i've had enough and i'm going to make myself a better man. Good Luck
Past experiences with older friends who has these problems
My advice would be to visit your GP and ask to be referred for counseling. You're still at the start of your life and have a lot of life to live. Talking to an outsider may help you to get your thoughts straight. Your GP might also recommend an anti-depressant which on it's own won't solve everything but might give you the strength to start turning start tackling things. Please don't do anything to harm yourself - please to talk to someone before doing that and allow your faith to give you comfort during the difficult times.
* MOST SECRET *
Just sit somewhere and do deep expiration - inspiration in normal and expiration to relieve the entire air in our lungs and other tissues.
The reason for depression is the existence of bad air in the tissues and blood vessels, and the incomplete respirations due to various engagements in our day to day life and straight goes to bed.
Like we clean our external body, and the other processes like urine, stool, etc., air also should be cleaned. Cleaning of air in our body keeps the nerves and therefore the mind balanced and free from depression.
