How do I stop myself from sleeping so much/How can I fix my sleeping patterns?!
Question: How do I stop myself from sleeping so much/How can I fix my sleeping patterns?
I'm 14 and in 9th grade, if it matters.

Sounds like your sleep is really out-of-whack. My doctor recommended for me when mine got out of whack to make a rule that NO MATTER WHAT (even if there's homework to be done), I should be in bed by 11pm with lights, TV, etc. OFF. And not to sleep in past 9 (actually, I'm supposed to be up by 6:30 every morning, but I have chronic health issues that make waking up nearly impossible, no less at such early hours of the morning).
That said, if the problems persist, I'd recommend seeing a doctor if the schedule-setting doesn't work after a few weeks. It's possible you may have an iron deficiency, inadequate diet (try start keeping track of what you eat. write down amounts and what time you eat), or something a little more complicated like hypothyroidism.
Since you're 14, I'd honestly say that it's probably just a need for sleep you have because you're growing. I remember when I was in 9th grade I would nap EVERY DAY after school. Sometimes until 9 o'clock at night, and then I'd go to bed at 11 and sleep all night. I also slept in class.
That definitely changed, though, because now I have really bad insomnia. I had insomnia in the past, but then I seemed to have a period of 'hypersomnia'. If this persists for a very long time, though, and it's causing problems like falling behind in school and stuff, you should see a doctor. There IS such a thing called hypersomnia. A friend of mine had it really bad and would sleep for DAYS straight.
Ask the doc to take blood tests to find out if there is a reason to feel this bad. You may be anaemic or have glandular fever and that's easier to treat than any mental reasons. You are not dyslextic are you?
Have you always had a need to sleep more than most or is this a new factor?
Are you worried and not being able to concentrate because of the worry? Is anything going wrong in your familly? Not that surprised that you don't have any social life now.
