Son diagnoised with Bi-Polar?

Thanks for the answers. This is like the 10th doctor, therapist, counsler, mental health over a 5 year period of time. I have not taken this lightly and have researched over and over and over. They are just now sending him to the psychitrist for the rest of the diagnosis and possible meds. Which I do not want to do. So I will research and meet with alot of others before I make that decision. Bi-Polar also runs in his fathers family, and father may possibly also. The highs and lows are different for each individual. And really different in children. My son goes on a rage episode for about 3 months at a time. And beats kids, and adults up, the he is mellow and happy for about 2 or 3 months. He also hurts himself while in the rages etc.... I have been going for help for many years. And have not decided to settle for just anything. No way No how. He is my baby. I was just wondering if anyone else has gone through or is going through anything similar.

I know all to well the genetic links involved with bipolar as I have it and my daughter has it also have a long family history or mental health illnesses like bipolar. good luck take care.
