Does anyone suffer from Globus Hystericus?!
Question:
Does anyone suffer from Globus Hystericus?
I have anxiety and depression and recently, I've noticed a lump in my throat which makes it very difficult to get a deep satisfying breath. I did some research and discovered that these are the symptoms of Globus Hystericus. The symptoms come and go but get stronger the more I worry about not getting a deep breath. Does anyone out there suffer from this?
Answers:
Dear Ryan...you need to be evaluated by a physician. Preferably an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat). Globus Hystericus is a fairly common complaint similar to what you have described. It is most often seen in women who are experiencing menopause although that is not a hard and fast rule. It is believed to be an anxiety reaction. If you, in fact, are suffering from this, you could be treated by anxiety medications. Please see a physician...best wishes
