Is there anyway to build self confidence?!

Is there anyway to build self confidence?

I always feel really shy around people that I don't know that well, or in stressful situations. Is there any way to gain enough self confidence?

Answers:

I know this will sound a bit corny but you need to build your self-esteem to gain more confidence. Start with something simple. Look up some good affirmations or get a book of them. Post a list of 20-30 of them in you bathroom and each morning while you are getting ready say the affirmations out loud. Research shows the more senses you use the better you learn. What you are essentially doing is training your brain to think differently. If you need to do this exercise as many times a day as you like. The more you do the more your brain changes.

Next would be engage in situations where you are uncomfortable. The best way to change something is by doing it through practice. Give yourself a pep talk. Tell yourself you are going to find something you can talk about and then make yourself do it. Remember give yourself a break it does take time to change anything so being uncomfortable for a while is to be expected. If however you experience alot of physical symptoms as the result of your anxiety talk to your doctor. There are medications you can take to help with anxiety.
