What can I do to feel better?!

Question:

What can I do to feel better?

My husband is on his second deployment to Iraq in a four year period now, due home sometime the end of next month. I was diagnosed several months ago as slightly depressed (naturally, right?) and suffer from anxiety/panic attacks.

What I'm asking is this.... I'm just finding it hard to feel good. I take medication daily, and I know its not going to be the magic pill to make every day a perfect day but today I just dont feel good. I dont want to do anything.... at all. Even the things I enjoy doing.

Anyone experience this, and any idea's on how to lift my spirit? I dont wanna feel like this... I am on the verge of tears all the time today. Its stupid.

I should be happy and excited that this is almost over, and I am, really. I'm just finding it hard to feel good today and want to do things. And as for tomorrow? I dont even want to go see fireworks but I have to suck it up and go for the kids.

Any suggestions? Please no sarcastic/rude remarks. I dont need that right now.

Thank YOU Mimi, for your kind words. While they made me tear up... it meant so much to see them. I am going to just take it easy today, and bank on tomorrow being better. I hope!

It may make you feel better to know that you're a brave woman and an amazing wife, standing by your husband, with his career choice. Not many women would handle this, but you are. Ofcourse it's stressful. That's normal. If you were NOT stressed about your husband, then, I'd worry. You're also an amazing, responsible, caring and thoughtful mother, wanting to 'suck it up' for the kids' sake.

For now, take the pill. Let it help you feel good for today. And tomorrow, go out and do something special for yourself, that you enjoy. Get a dog and take him out for long walks. Go to the park. Talk to a friend. Do some volunteer work. People need people. That's why we live in a society. Let someone help you, and you go help someone else. Volunteering our time can often help us feel good about ourselves. We gain a lot by giving to others.
