Question:

Any help for my lack of sleep?

I'm 13, homeschooled, in Grade 11. I love art and solving puzzles involving logic. My brain rarely stops processing thoughts. (Whether it's ideas for art, why slugs have 4 noses, or solving logic puzzles.)

....Anyways, during the night (around 23:00hours) I can't fall asleep due to all of the thoughts in my head. I need help cooling down my brain so that I can sleep.

P.S. I've already been to a doctor specialist, gave me some medicine. Yet- I still can't fall asleep~!!

Any help will be rewarded with gratitude~!! :)

My parents do not work me hard, I came to this level by myself. Just to let everyone know.

I go outside and socialize with my friends like every other normal 13 year-old.
Being too studious would hurt my brain, strain my eyes, and other unhealthy ideals.


Answers:

Here's something that has worked for me. I lie in the bed and listen to an iPod for about 30mins or so. I don't listen to music because that can keep me up, but I subscribe to a talk radio podcast. I'll listen to the podcast for a half-hour or so and I'll usually go to sleep with no problems.

Try not to have any caffeine after dinner, because that can really keep you up. Caffeine affects different people in different ways, so you may find that caffeine really keeps you up more than most people.

Also, try not to eat anything after 7 or 8 pm. Eating gives you energy, and energy keeps you awake at night. If you must eat late, don't eat a lot. Only eat enough to satiate you.
