If hallucinations are caused by deranged brain chemistry then why don't people with brain damage hallucinate?
Many people have various forms of sever brain dysfunction and damage, from cerebral palsy to downs syndrome and people who have a variety a mentally handicapped conditions or neurological diseases such as MS, but these individuals aren't commonly known to hallucinate.

I have worked as a nurse with people who were mentally ill and people who are physicaly ill and also worked as a support worker for people who are mentally handicapped. Most are well monitored by psychiatric services and medical doctors. Most people with derranged brain chemistry are able to communicate.
