Inferiority complex.?!

Question:

Inferiority complex.?

i really hate my job and feel like people are looking down on me all the time. I'm a third year uni student but i work in retail and i feel degraded and worthless, like i feel as though all the customers are looking at me as though i am a lower from of species. sometimes it really upsets me and i graze my wrists when im at work with a blade, because it somehow makes me feel better. the whole inferority issue is really starting to bother me. is it true that customers consider the cashier something under their feet? because it feels this way. please give me your thoughts.

Answers:

If you feel inferior, and behave as if you are inferior, then people will treat you as if you are inferior.

I have worked in many jobs in my life, including retail, from the lowliest minimum wage occupation to professional management jobs, and have never allowed anyone to view me as inferior. You do that with a friendly smile, and a helpful attitude. Dress appropriately for your job, stand up straight, smile, and look people in the eye, and you will never be treated as an inferior.

The way you feel about yourself is another matter. If you are cutting yourself, you may need to speak to a professional who works with compulsive behavior.

It has been my personal experience that you can change your own opinion of yourself by changing your behavior.

Show respect for yourself, and others will show respect for you.
