Depression help and the burden on my friends?!

Question:

Depression help and the burden on my friends?

I'm fighting depression and it gets so hard some times, I have only a few really close friends that I trust I can talk to. But I feel as though I will push them away for needing their help so much. I don't want to bring them down with me or be so clingy I want to show them I'm strong and don't need their help even though I'm in a really bad way. Its difficult to ask for help - if I pushed them away I probably couldn't go on. Has anyone got some advice or have had a similar experience?

Answers:

if you had flu or some illness that needed, say anti-biotics, would you turn to your friends for help? I think not, you would see your doctor. Depression is a very real illness [I'm sure you know this] not a state of mind. So get lots of help from people who know how to deal with it. Your friends who probably have the best will in the world don't really know how to handle your problems
