At what point does a male diabetic start insulin?!

There is a lot of things that it depends on!. First, the country!. In the US insulin as seen as a last ditch drug!. In Europe they will usually start it after only one or two drugs fail control!.

If the A1C levels can not be controlled with Metformin, a sulfaureal, diet, and exercises, then they may start a long acting insulin!. Most type 2 diabetics can usually use a regimen of diet and exercise!. Your doctor usually tries that method and if that does not reduce your blood sugar levels then oral medication is prescribed!. If blood sugar levels stay high insulin might be added in addition to oral medication!. It depends, Some can go their whole lives with out being insulin dependent!. It just depends if you are Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetic!. Type 1 is insulin dependent Type 2 can be controled with diet and exercise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
