Lifting weights? Vein Pressure?!

Question:

Lifting weights? Vein Pressure?

I dont know exactly what is happenin, like whether it is harmful or potentially dangerous. I am 14 years old and when i lift (light arm) weights there is like a vein on my left arm around my elbow (on the inside of my arm of course) that tends to stick out. When my arm is bent its like a dot and it sticks out. If i keep lifting will it like pop or something or burst? Thanks

Answers:

That's normal and it won't burst. When you exercise your veins expand to provide more blood to the muscles that are being used in the particular exercise. They stay pumped for a while after you finish and they slowly go back to normal.

The less body fat you have the more they show up. The one you are talking about shows up all the time because it is very close to the skin and there is normally not much fat around your elbows. Some show up a "bump". .. but that's because that is the part of the vein that is close to the surface of the skin.
