Painful Bump on my Shoulder.......?!
Question: Hi! I have a bump(not a pimple) on my left shoulder. It's very painful even when I move my shoulder in anyway. I noticed the bump was kinda sore a week ago but now it's just plain painful(maybe because I tried to "push it back in").
The bump hasn't really had any effect on my skin, but it feels hard underneath the skin like it's sticking to the underside of my skin.
I'm in the Army and I could go to an Army doctor but they'll most likely just say.."Wait a few weeks..let me know what develops".
The medics in the Army are not trained like doctors in the real world..they're just trained for combat emergencies.
Is there anyone that can help me find out what this could be..it's getting more & more painful day-by-day.
And no it's not a Bone..it's too soft to be a bone & too hard to be Muscle.

Ok let me assure you that its less likely to be something serious.The user who said ganglion no its not a gangion.You do not get ganglions on shoulders.Ganglions form on muscle tendons.Ill give you a simple examination that you should perform.let somebody place the bump between the index the the middle finger and try to fluctuate the Bump if it moves even a little bit then this is most likely to be a cyst.If its fixed to the underlying tissue and the skin then its an indication of a malignancy(which you do not have because you said the it moved down,so good news!).The person who said melanoma,you have to see a lesion on the skin to say melanoma,because its a skin lesion.
Now simple thing that the medicas can do for you which will tell you if its a cyst or not.ask them to insert a fine needle syringe,if the lequid colour is green,yellow .etc then it was just a cyst.You better take some antibiotics as well so you do not get any comlications.If it had abnormal amounts of blood then you will need further examination.A cyst is not something that a doctor say wait a few weeks cz its gives really severe pain discomfort and it might burst causing further complications,they might also drain it with a tiny incision.A torn muscle can cz a hard bump cz the go into spasm.
In general it really looks benign and that there is nothing to worry about,but it still requires that you go see a doctor.goodluck :)

I was thinking of a dislocation but it might be puss (the yellow thingy which happens to be yucky if you ask me?). you probably injured it somehow, like bumping it into something hard.

Probably a cyst. They hurt, yea, pretty much harmless. Usually you get them surgically removed.
Its a ganglion. got one on my wrist and the doctor cured it by hitting it with a book. It burst the cell of fluid which has escaped from the nearest joint, but you are right it will, in time, disperse of its own accord.
are you sure it's not a boil... Sometimes they are just pain full bumps. thier under the skin and they never really turn into a pimple. If it's a boil then you can get over the counter medications for it such as boil ease to take away the pain. You being in the military and wearing all those heavy clothing and them rubbing against your skin it's very possible it is one. Just go to the pharmacy get some gauze's and tape and some boil ease and the pain will go away.
I also heard from a friend that her husband use to get boils and she would take a thin slice of potatoe and tape it over it and in the morning the core would come out and it would go a way. But don't quote me on that one. That's one of them voodoo things too me.
try out tis simple remedies......soak a little cloth in salty water..thn rub tat cloth on ur shoulder(where the bump is) it might b kinda lightin feel a while...bu will feel relief....or else if u can try to heat up saly on dry pan for while may b bout 3 mins...thn put it in a cloth while it hot.....tie the cloth n rub da cloth on ur sholuder on n off...for better result...
I have no medical knowledge but I had a large cyst on my back. This thing was the size of a golf ball. I'm guessing that's what you have. It was there for a couple of weeks till it burst. Then all this pus drained out. I later saw a dermatologist, by then it was over and nothing he can do. This cyst left a scar. The medics can at least lance it and drain out the pus. I would have that done that way the pain would be over and no surprise of it bursting at any time, I had to rinse out my shirt at work when it happen to me.
