Holiday insurance for person with cardiomyopathy?!

Question: my father in law is in his late 50s and has a diagnosis of cardiomyopathy (spelling may be wrong). his heart is working at a 40% capacity if i remember rightly.
Problem is we all want to go on holiday to florida, will he be able to be insured? (we live in the UK)

I have a few medical problems and I found the AA good. You have to declare everything and they will then decide whether they can insure him.

They may ask for a doctor's report. If your father's doctor says he shouldn't travel then any travel insurance will be invalid.

Generally is your father's condition stable? They may also look at the underlying cause of his cardiomyopathy - there are several.

BTW for those who asked cardiomyopathy is a thickening of the cardiac muscle. As the muscle thickens the heart becomes less iffecient hense the "working at 40%"

what is cardiomyopathy

what's holiday insurance?

anyways, my guess would be no or very expensive.

yes but you must advise of his condition first, try moneysupermarket.com

you can try direct line,if they take him on,he will not be covered for anything related to this illness,or anything caused by it,so you would only really be covered for other things not connected with it.
Some companies will even decline you insureance

Try Royal Mail travel ins. We found this the cheapest option for myself (I had Malignant Melanoma a year before) and my son suffers from Myoclonic Astatic Epilepsy.

Probably - the difficulty is that the premium will be quite high.

Try http://www.portwood.co.uk/ for quotes and then try medical screening options. If you have no luck they do have a specialist impaired health policy - but the premiums are likely to be about 10 times as high - call them 01207 509446
