use soap or, more specifically, a black-head removing scrub wash. These will clear up zits. I remember a friend in school who had the worst spots that he obviously never (EVER) touched as the heads were huge and white/yellow and at the stage where most people would pop them. At age 18 the zits went away and his face went back to being baby smooth like before puberty.
Dont touch them, ride it out, you will thank yourself in the long run. Either that or pop them and leave yourself with pock mark scars for the rest of your life. Typically a zit will last from 4-6weeks which will seem like an eternity. Touching/popping them will only make them redder and more noticable and you have the risk of permanently scaring your face.
If it seems like it's going to burst anyway then I pop them. I just do it until whatever is in there comes out, but you must stop when blood or clear fluid starts to come out.
