Chemical exfoliation will help such as AHAs or BHAs or glycolic acids. You can try Neutrogena healthy skin face lotion or La Roche Posay vitamin C emulsion.
Hydroquinone is another kind of gel or cream that will help.
For prescriptive creams, you can try Retin-A or other retinoids.
Avoid the sun. Sunlight can darken the marks making it harder to fade away. Apply sunblock if you really must go out in the sun
They have spot treatments (Neutragena) that are supposed to fade acne marks faster. Also, using a lotion with alpha hydroxy in it speeds up cell renewal. If you're talking about old spots/scars, you may need to go to a professional for a peel or laser treatment. I went in for a consultation, and it isn't too expensive.
