High Blood Pressure and Liposuction?!

Question: My mom is getting liposuction this weekend and the doctor told her not to take her medication 10 days before the surgery. Is it okay to have lipo suction when you have high blood pressure becuase her blood pressure was going down when she took the pill but it got a little higher when she stopped taking it. So is it okay?

Any time you have high blood pressure and you get "put out" for a surgery you are at risk. I don't mean to scare you but it sounds to me like your mom should go about losing the extra pounds the old fashion way & play it safe. When I was pregnant my blood pressure got so high I had to have an emergancy c-section and I begged my doctor to put me out because I was scared but he wouldn't do it he said there was a very good chance I would never wake up from it. High blood pressure is nothing to mess around with.It can make a big difference when going in for even the easiest surgery.

She should listen to her doctor, not you or internet answers.

Tell your mom to check with her family physician about this. This can be very dangerous depending on the medication and how high her BP is when she is not on medication. Her BP needs to be checked several times before surgery. Do not let your mom have surgery before she gets the ok about her risk from her family doctor who knows her best.
Best of luck
