The truth is, he is going to do whatever he wants. Even though the laws are coming down harder on smokers lately, teenagers still smoke. I really don't think it matters what you say or do, if he wants to smoke, he will.

Plus, most teenagers do smoke, at least for a little bit of time. It's the "cool" factor of the cigarettes mixed with curiosity that makes most teenagers at least try smoking.

All you can really do is let him know how you feel about him smoking, and prohibit him from lighting up in front of you. Otherwise, you can't control what he is doing.

Remember, there are worse things that he can be doing than smoking cigarettes.

well if he's been educated in school about it then if that didnt make him not wana smoke nothing will. you'll probably hear a lot of him saying how hes not planning on doing it as an adult and how he doesnt do it often enough that he'd be addicted he just does it when he feels like it. i would just step out an soon enough he'll realize when its time to stop.

I did have a son that was smoking. I told him it was not healthy for him to do that. I told him he needs to quit smoking. I told him he is not allowed to smoke, if I catch him smoking he will be grounded or punished for it. I also got him involved in a physical activity... He doesn't smoke any more.

well how old is he?
If he was my son I think i would have to sit him down and ask him why did u start smoking...
he will probably say i wanted to do because im stressed out , all the cool people are doing it, it calms me down, it calms my stress and there is more but thats most likey i hope i have helped a little

i have gone thru this and I'm still a teenager, but more mature then others. you probably will hear "I'm stressed out" or something that has to do with emotion.

solution? buy him 2 packs of cigarettes and tell him to smoke all of them in front of you while your watching TV.... make sure he inhales. he will get sick from nicotine poison, and just like when you drink to much and get sick and think back on it, you will say to yourself "god im stupid." this will make him stop i promise, if not... just let it be, only he can quit.

Honestly... I would whoop his a** if he was under age and still living with me. But you need to educate him and get him to stop it. It will kill him in the long run.

How old is he? Is he under your roof?

If he's under 18 and under your roof and you pay the bills then if it were me, I would take all of his stuff away except his bed and clothes and food. I would give him no money, take away his cell phone, video games, etc. etc. I would treat him like a child. Tough love.

If he's old enough to buy them and pays his bills then there's nothing you can do but tell him not to smoke in front of you.
