Infection from a blood test?!

Question: I had blood drawn at a health fair. I had a red streak go up my arm and ended up in the hospital with a skin and vein infection. I am waiting to get my results to see what kind of infection it was, but I can't hardly move my arm. Anyone ever experience this? I already called a lawyer.

No way to know until the results come back. If you asked me to guess I would say Staph infection because this bacteria lives on the skin and if the area wasn't cleaned well before inserting the needle it is possible that when the needle punctured the skin it brought bacteria from the skin surface into the vein and caused infection.
Hope you feel better.

It would be highly unusual to have such an immediate reaction to an infectious agent. It sounds more like you had an allergic reaction to either the antiseptic they used to clean the skin, or possible latex allergies to the gloves they wore (and I do hope they wore gloves). If the culture tests come back negative you need to see an allergist as latex allergy can become life-threatening.
