How long does it take a prednisone injection to start working?!
Question: I am having horrible itching and the doctor gave me a prednisone injection this afternoon, but I am not noticing any relief.

Normally anything kind of steroid should have an almost immediate affect. Sometimes it may take up to a half hour. If you are still not feeling any relief...call your doctor he may need to give you something a little stronger. Don't worry about paging at night if you can't sleep...that's what they get paid the big bucks for ;o)

My father gets them for Arthritis and they tell him anywhere from 20 minutes but up to 2 days for the full affect. I hope this helps...also, you can take Benedryl for hives or allergy realted itching...hope that helps!!
THE INJECTION IS SUPPOSED TO START WORKING THE MOMENT IT HITS THE BLOOD STREAM.I WOULD GIVE IT ANOTHER DAY OR TWO CALL YOUR DOCTOR IF NO LUCK. THERE IS A 15 DAY PACK OF PREDNISONE PILLS AVAILIBLE THAT HAS WORKED FOR MY WIFE.
