Could low blood pressure make you act high?!

Question: I have a friend that used to do drugs..but they went to rehab. They [as far as I know] don't do anything anymore, but they are now experiencing problems wiht their blood sugar. It goes wayyy up, then it bottoms out.

They act very much like they did when they were ON drugs as they do now; falling asleep EVERYWHERE [toilet, sitting up on the couch, etc.] They keep talking about absolutely nothing and they go through fits of anger like they did when they were high.

I really want to help them, could this side effects of the blood sugar.

Which are you asking about, blood sugar or blood pressure? You have two different issues there, but either one of them could cause the behaviors you are describing with the exception of one: I have never seen a case of low blood PRESSURE causing fits of anger. Low blood sugar, on the other hand, CAN cause flaring episodes of fury and rage. Low blood sugar can also cause fugue (episodes where the person appearing to be functioning but is totally mentally absent, having no memory of the episode or their actions after it is over) or petit mal or even grand mal seizures. Your friend needs a good physical check up.

yes... his body condition is really unstable... when his blood goes up... he goes hyper and when it booms down... he'll most probably collapse.... he doenst need rehab now... he need a real physician....

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can give you an altered mental status. The things that you have described sound like hypoglycemia. Your friend should get help with properly regulating his/her blood sugar. Hypoglycemia is dangerous because the brain requires sugar to function.

High blood sugar will give you those effects!! Your friend needs to to to the doctor for an HbA1c blood test.

Also change lifestyle!! Eat low carb foods only, give up the synthetic sweeteners. Low carb foods do NOT include potatoes, breads, cereals, rices, pastas, peas, corn, beans, lentils, carrots! Green leafy salads with tomatoes and other good salad stuffs and a 3 ounce serving of some kind of meat along with an apple for two meals a day and bacon and eggs for breakfasts.

Good exercise is good for bringing down glucose numbers. Walk for an hour every day as far as fast as you can.

Yes, high glucose numbers are the pits as far as personality goes. If mine goes way up, I get really ugly and can go to sleep just like that.

Low blood pressure will NOT do this
