STAFF INFECTION how long does it stay on a surface?!
Question: Like a table or couch kind of surface.
Answers: Like a table or couch kind of surface.
Its a 'staph' (as in Staphlococcus Aureus) infection. The viable period outside the body is very short, and the risk of transmission from surfaces is almost nil. The staph bacteria is present in small amounts in almost all humans and animals (in mucous membranes, including the nose) and doesn't become a problem unless there is a reduced immune system or a means for the bacteria to enter the bloodstream.
Cleaning hard surfaces with a bleach (10% in water) solution will kill the bacteria. On soft or porous surfaces, sprays containing gluteraldehyde will take care of it. Hand washing is the best way to prevent the spread. Antibiotics are used to treat the infection.
Staph often needs a moist environment but usually only lives a short while. Stay clean and you will be fine.
not very long on a couch -a long time on a table. wash your hands well.
