If a person is diabetic, then all they need to stay away from is sugar right?!
Question: My father-in-law is diabetic, so I know not to send any goodies that have sugar in them, so would it be ok for him to eat sugar free brownies?
I thought that anything sugar or carb related foods are foods that diabetics need to stay clear from...is this not true? What other things can they not eat?

So many people get this wrong. You still CAN have sugar, just in great moderation. Being a Type 1 diabetic, I just go through the recipe and see what all it calls for. I look and when I get to "sugar", I know I can replace it with Splenda brand sweetener. It tastes no different than any other thing you will bake. The only thing I don't have much luck with Splenda is cookies. I will give you the easiest recipe that tastes so sinful. I call it, "Better Than Sex Pie" but when I take it somewhere like church activities, I call it "Four Layer Pie."
