If you're diagnosed with depression, do some jobs close for you?!

Question: I'm 16 and I've been diagnosed with depression and OCD. I want to be a doctor when I get older. I think a doctor would be perfect for me because doctors have to be very clean, so they don't infect their patients. Is it possible for me to become a doctor and still have these diagnosed mental illnesses? No, I'm not suicidal.

I work in a hospital and many doctors and other professionals have depression. Depression can be treated with the corrects meds. I have it and besides medication I find that regularly walking my dog or doing exercise helps.

Depression is an epidemic. It does not discriminate so anyone can be affected.

Good luck and I hope you have a trusted person in your life who you can confide in .

With the right type of medication to help control your depression, you can do anything that anyone else can do. GOOD LUCK!! (Anything within reason...that is. If you can't sing, you just can't sing.)

the funny thing is most doc have depression or are ocd. i am. they say when you go into the medical field you want to be a fixer. or figure out what is wrong all around you. i have really found this to be true....i have been a nurse for 6 years, and finally went to the doc for depression which i know i have had. be thankful you are doing it at a young age and will get on right meds that will make you feel mentally healthier. it is only harder the longer you wait, and then feel like you are having a mid life crisis at 28... good luck

yes you can be a doctor Maybe you could help peple like yourself knowing what the symtoms are and what they are going through.A least you would understand and be more open to their problems.

I think you should get a job as a motivational speaker. :)

Yes, as long as you have the wherewithal, you can become a MD. I hope you like science courses.

DO NOT tell people at school that you have depression & OCD.

It is against the Americans with Disabilities Act to ask people if they have a mental illness. Since the question is against the law you can answer "NO".

Good luck to you.

i don't know what you mean when you say does your job close for but i do know about depression i'm 11 and i had it when my dog died it's very hard to deal with it you even feel like throwing up you food. but don't do that! they have pills for depression. there not drugs! i'm sure you will be a doctor when you grow up so keep fighting and don't give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! depression sucks! p.s. so does ocd. but that doesn't mean you do!
