DO I HAVE LICE

well first of all how short is your hair now? cause i know from experience (unfortunately) that if you had long hair and have never had really short hair before than it can make it kind of itchy.

second: i know you don't want to hear this but you're going to have to tell your parents so this way they can look in your hair to tell you if you have it or not.

if you do have it. My suggestion is to go to your local Walgreens, CVS, or Wal*Mart and buy a box of Licefreee! (yes that's the way it's spelled ! and all).

if you don't have it. i suggest going to one of the said three stores and buying a bottle of head and shoulders or selsun blue. they are mainly dandruff shampoos but they also help with an itchy scalp.

if all else fails see your doctor.

email me if you have any other questions or concerns. I've been down this road before.

no one can tell the best way is to go to the doctors tell ur parents

try a ketoconazole shampoo. take some cetrizine tab to decrease itching. use a shampoo containing zinc pyrithone regularly.. weekly once or so.

Lice are easy to diagnose. Get someone to look in your hair and if you have them they will see them crawling around and eggs stuck to the hair shafts. Then best place to look is behind the ears and at the hair line on your neck.

Getting rid of lice is a fairly involved process.
First you need to purchase a lice shampoo and follow the directions to kill the live lice in your hair. Then you need to use a fine lice comb and comb every inch of your hair to remove the stuck on eggs. Your brush and comb need to be sterilised and all your bedding washed and aired in sunshine, then hot ironed to kill any eggs. This includes your pillow and quilts. Towels you use and any clothing you may share with another family member needs to be washed and ironed as well.

Then you need to wash your hair again in the next week with the lice shampoo to catch any eggs that have hatched since you last washed it. And the lice comb used again.

It is easier to do the combing and egg removal with the help of another person as they can see the eggs stuck on the shafts of your hair.

A preventative is to wash your hair with tea tree oil mixed in your shampoo. Lice like clean hair so it is no stigma if you get lice. You got them from someone else and the eggs or live lice jumped onto your hair.

I know someone who got lice from a bus seat while they were travelling on a long trip.

Warning about Tea Tree oil. It can have unpleasant effects for pregnant women and other conditions. Make sure you read the conditions of use before using.
