Blood sugar question?!

Question: lately after lunch i feel a "drop" in blood sugar level....i get very sleepy, shaky and feel unstable like i am going to pass out....if i dont have anything handy to eat then i have to wait it out...usually around 15 to 20 mins.....i try to have something available like an orange(this works best) or some other sort of fruit....candy, chocolate and the likes dont work (they tend to make me feel worse)....natural sugar from fruit works very well to make me feel leveled off again.....whats going on here?....doc says no diabetes but i have never actually done a glucose tolerance (at least not in the last 16 years since my test for gestational diabetes when i was pregnant with my twins)....anybody got any idea?....oh and usually for lunch i am having like a 6" sub and diet coke if this helps to tell you about what i am eating before this happens

you should insist that you get a glucose tolerance test. it's your body and you know it better than any doctor. i had gestational diabetes 10 years ago, and 2 years ago it turned into Type 2. all doctors know that gestational is an indication for Type 2. your doctor is being irresponsible with your health. and are you sure your blood sugar is bottoming out? maybe it's getting really high and that's why you feel sleepy. the orange has more useful sugar than a sub or whatever. cut down on the fast food. eat more fruit but be careful since fruit is sugary.

Food usually takes 20-30 minutes to digest into the state of letting you know if you're really full or not, so if you eat a full meal not keep eating until you fill full, wait it out and then eat a little more if you're not satisfied. Stay away from Corn Syrup and other sweets.

Go to the doctor asap and get tested. Don't fool around with your health

I agree go and get a blood test at the doctors!! You coluld also have another condition where your suger goes low but I can't remember what it is called!! They also make sugar pills that are like tumbs but you take a few and they make your sugar go up!!

Sleepiness is a symptom of high blood sugar, not low sugar.

You can feel very weak and tired with high blood sugar, because the body is literally starving.

There is plenty of sugar in the bloodstream, but the insulin level is insufficient, or not effective, so your cells can't use the sugar and it acts like a toxin, slowly poisoning you.

Ask for an HbA1c test and also a glucose tolerance test.

Those two tests combined will give your doctor a better picture of what's going on in your body. Do NOT take no for an answer. If your doctor won't do these tests, find a new one.
