Dry Skin Question?!

Question: well, if it matters/helps, i'm a 26 male.

My question pertains to dry skin on the eyebrow region and chin. what causes this, and what would i use to help get rid/control it?
I've tried changing soaps, shampoos and such. but none of that seemed to help.
It's kinda odd because i've never had this problem up until about 2 years ago.

thanx in advance for the help.

I also have this dryness on the eyebrows, but; I don't have it on the chin, I have it on the corners of my mouth and the creases of my nose and hair line! Lately, my cheeks have been so very dry as well that they have even cracked! My face goes more dry in the winter months then any other time of the year!

I was told that I have psoriasis (hope this is how you spell it!) It is nothing too serious but more of a inconvenience! It is very dry patches of skin that could also be itchy! You can get this anywhere on your body and it can be in patches or so severe as to cover the entire body! It is similiar to dermatitis which is another name for dandruff.

If you go to your Doctor he/she can prescribe you some cream that has a small amount of cortisone in it, which you put on the dry patches about 3X a day and only a very small amount! It works wonders too!

Something my daughter and I have been told to do because we are prone to eye sties is to wash our eyes with baby shampoo! And in all honesty, my daughter finds that her face isn't breaking out as much anymore either (for those of you who have achne; something to try anyway!) I also find it has helped with some of the dry patches of skin but then I also put a bit of lotion on my face every single day about 2-3X a day; so this might be working as well! The lotion is just the normal cheap vaseline named brand.

So, good luck!

See your doctor

Do you work outside?
If its really dry, then get some Hydra Energetic Moisturising Lotion by L'Oreal Men Expert. My dad uses it!

It sounds like a sort of eczema -- you might try a cortisone cream on it. If that doesn't work, possibly Lotrimin would help. Both are available over the counter. My grandson had the same sort of symptoms and that worked for him.

You could have eczema. Which is severe dry skin which usually comes in sort of patches. The best thing that helps with my dry skin is coridizone creme or body butter. Buy cordizone cream is the best. Make sure you get a kind that you can use on your face though.

It helps so much. And a little bit goes a long way. Also vaseline can help to.

try avocado oil, but i would go to a doctor, maybe a dermatologist. I have a feeling that you are resting on your elbows too much, or its a health problem. Try drinking more water and eating a little better.

You can get dandruff in your eyebrows, so you could try using a dandruff shampoo, obviously you have to be very careful to make sure it doesn't go in your eyes but in some cases it can help (and if it is all along both eyebrows it is probably a dandruff type problem).

I get small dry patches on and off and I exfoliate them and then moisturise well afterwards and this seems to keep them at bay. Try any moisturiser to find the best for you - the best one I have found is Clarins Baume Beaute Eclair.

Why now - it could be the weather, dry cold weather when I have the heating on more flares mine up.

definitely see your GP. that should always be the first step when you're feeling uncomfortable with your body.

but in case you dont know. you should never wash your face with soap - it drys it out. Use simple cleansers. maybe moisturising ones.

have a daily routine that you stick to. Morning and night - cleanse. then tone. then moisturise. ALWAYS. during the day always wear 30+ sunscreen. everyday. it doesnt matter wat you're doing. and every night (although its not so pressing) wear a night moisturising cream while you sleep. And once a week, use a face exfoliation like "st ives" - it's heavensent.

Also try and drink at least a couple of bottles of water a day. its really not difficult if you carry one around with you everywhere. and work on detoxing your diet. cos skin health is often directly linked to what we eat - fresh fruit and veggies my friend. cut down on the carbs, salt, sugar and fat.

now go see your GP!!

PS. re: what causes it - there are millions of things. dry weather, change in living/working environment, hormonal changes, eczema, bad sleeping patterns, dehydration, smoking crack.... etc etc

PPS. no do not shampoo your eyebrows! egads..

sounds like u might have eye brow dandruff..reason i know this yup.me to ..I confess to it didnt rer=alize at first but while at a friends salon i kept itching my eybrows she said u have eye brow dandruff, its easy to fix..you just need 3 things.
1st. olive oil
2nd.rosemary herb
3rd a small container microwaveable one
oh and a microwave makes it 4 things oops..
ok, just pour the oil in the small container, add rosemary. microwave both 2gether ah about 1 mintue should be good until the sizzle ha..ha..ok ..
then just with a brush lightly brush the oil concoctun on your eye brows that should help the upper half maybe someone out there can help with the lower half my chins fine..good luck to you..and most important soaps without chemicals like sodium laurel sulphites u shoould stay away from them u can find them at GNC,they usually come in a double container an all white bottle 2 stuck together shampoo/cond, as for soap I wash with an all natural one that smells like chocolate really smells nice .i almost ate it at first...good luck though..

on the elbow region try using heel cream, its concentrated and will soften it up....on your face u must use something milder, don't use any soap products just a good moisturizer...or even sorbelene...if worsens see your GP....is it itchy/red/inflamed?? possibly eczema, dermatitis....who knows just see your GP

Yogurt-honey combination helps dry skin. Make an egg pack with a yolk, a teaspoon of honey, a tablespoon of milk powder. This is beneficial to dry skin types. There are many helpful tips to cure dry skin at http://useinfo-dryskin.blogspot.com/

For dry skin, use a creamy cleanser to melt away dirt. Leave it on your skin before sweeping it away with cotton wool. Splash cold water onto your face to clean and refresh your skin.
